About CRED
Creative Education (CRED) is a ground-breaking initiative designed to unlock the potential of 15-16 year olds who find it hard to learn in a traditional schools environment.
It is aimed at young people who have withdrawn their best efforts from their school performance but who retain ambition to do well for themselves in the world of work.
There are 50 students, nominated from local schools who are taught in small groups fror three days a week in a purpose built learning centre on the premises of Brook Henderson group, a quality office environment in the centre of Reading. For the remaining two days a week each student is assigned to a local company gaining work experience.
Cred was pioneered by world leading network utility company National Grid Transco. In 2003 it received the Excellence for Innovation Award from the Government's Business In The Community initiative.
Cred is a partnership by Reading Borough Council, Central Berkshire Education Business Partnership, the Department for Education and Skills, Brook Henderson Group, local schools, pupils and parents.
